Finding CoolDownJuice

From a seed of an idea to a thriving community hub—this is how we became DC's sanctuary for wellness.

The Beginning

CoolDownJuice was born out of a simple realization: Washington, DC is a city that never stops moving. The pace here is intense—politics, careers, the constant hum of ambition. But we noticed something was missing. People needed a place to pause, to breathe, and to reconnect with themselves.

Founded in 2018 by former Capitol Hill staffer Elena Vance, CoolDownJuice started as a small pop-up yoga class in a community center basement. The response was overwhelming. Within a year, we had outgrown three spaces before finding our permanent home on East Capitol Street.

"We didn't set out to build a business. We set out to build a pause button for a city that forgot it needed one."
