Over the past several years, discussions regarding the dangers of manipulated food have become more and more frequent. Establishments use terms such as local, fresh, natural and “organic when possible” in order to give the impression that they are presenting raw products. If they do not use the terms “USDA certified” or “100% Organic,” then they may be attempting to deceive you.
We are more than aware of the added expense of organic produce and understand the hesitations as our USDA organic produce costs up to 3 three times more than purchasing modified and/or treated food. While we personally use 100% USDA certified fruits and vegetables, we encourage the budget restricted to at least review the USDA annual dirty dozen list (EWG.org) and avoid the most toxic, non-organic produce.
Why is it especially important to purchase USDA organic fruits and vegetables when juicing? A typical cold pressed juice contain up to 5 lbs. of raw produce pressed into a 16 oz. bottle. Individuals who are looking to CLEANSE themselves using non-raw juices will drink as much as 18 bottles over a three day period, consuming 90 lbs. of pesticide and herbicide ridden produce.
