While we have no lack of content regarding our awesome juices (including the inspiration behind November’s “Smashin’ Pumpkin” seasonal juice), we wanted to take this time to focus on another aspect of health, proper fitness, specifically the highly neglected rowing machine.
I am a member of a modest, yet well-rounded gym. In one large room are approximately 150 metal machines, half of which are cardio focused equipment with a heavy emphasis on lower body (ellipticals, tread mills, Stairmasters etc.). Over in a dark corner is one single dusty old rowing machine. This machine never fails to be vacant and is rarely out of order.
From what I have seen over the years, the lack of interest in the rowing machine at my gym is not an anomaly.
That said, I believe it is the most underrated piece of machinery in the gym. In just 30 min, you can easily burn 300 calories. The rowing machine is a unique cardio workout which engages your upper body (shoulders, chest, back, biceps and triceps) as well as lower body (hamstrings, quads, glutes and calves). This full body workout requires you to use 83% of your muscles, providing an amazing workout. For those who love the gizmo’s and gadgets modern equipment offer, you wouldn’t be disappointed. Modern rowing machines offer the same benefits other cardo machines present, just powered organically by you.
Next time you pass by that weird looking lonely piece of metal, dust it off, give it a crack, your body deserves it!
